Ahmedabad , Jan. 11

THE National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) has signed a memorandum of understanding with Gemidiriya Foundation, an autonomous body set up by the Sri Lanka Government, to set up a dairy project.

"NDDB will provide assistance in the implementation of a dairy under a World Bank-aided project for village development and livelihood improvement activities launched by the Gemidiriya Foundation in Sri Lanka," an NDDB release said here.

As per the agreement, NDDB will help organise milk producers into village level community institutions and support village communities to plan, implement, manage and enhance their milk production through newer technologies.

In addition, NDDB will help in training and capacity building of the community members and project staff of Gemidiriya Foundation, the release said.

NDDB will also set up a modern dairy plant and marketing infrastructure in Sri Lanka to ensure that the milk procured under the project is efficiently marketed.
