MANGALORE Chemicals and Fertilisers Ltd will get a sulphuric acid plant soon.
Built at a cost of Rs 12 crore, the captive plant is likely to be commissioned during this month. Company sources told Business Line that the captive sulphuric acid plant would have a production capacity of 100 tonnes a day. The company is bringing sulphuric acid from Tuticorin for its di-ammonium phosphate plant in Mangalore.
The commissioning of the captive plant will meet the company's requirements.
The plant will have a production capacity of 3,000 tonnes a month. Sources said the plant would be commissioned by January 15.
Work on the setting up of the sulphuric acid plant, which began in November 2004, was completed in 13 months.
According to the original schedule, the sulphuric acid plant should have been commissioned by October 2005.
The new plant will help reduce the losses being made on the phosphatic range of fertilisers, they said.
The shares of Mangalore Chemicals and Fertilisers ended the day at Rs 16.69 on the Bombay Stock Exchange, against the previous close of Rs 17.28.
