Rubber market remains buoyant

THE physical rubber market continued to surge ahead on Friday. Growers and dealers seemed to be more optimistic to hold the stocks as the peak production season would end in January.

The international markets were also in a positive mood. Hence, the inflow of raw material to the main markets declined further. The purchases from general rubber goods sector and North Indian sector were extremely narrow.

On NMCE February contract was quoted at Rs 73.80 (73.52), March Rs 75.52 (75.27) and April at Rs 76.72 (76.56) per kg for RSS 4. RSS 3 improved to Rs 80.70 from Rs 79.25 at Bangkok spot. The February futures for RSS 3 closed at 216 yen (Rs 83.50) against 214.8 yen a kg at TOCOM.

Spot prices akg were: RSS-4: 72 (71.50); RSS-5: 70 (69.75); ungraded: 68.50 (68); ISNR 20: 69.75 (69.25); and latex 60%: 51 (50.50).
