Chandy launches family insurance policy

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Chief Minister, Mr Oommen Chandy, will formally launch a comprehensive family insurance scheme for the State's poor at a function here on Monday.

Both health and accident covers are being provided to the beneficiaries as part of the scheme being implemented in partnership with ICICI Lombard General Insurance Company Ltd.

The annual premium that a beneficiary needs to part with is only Rs 33. The actual premium amount is Rs 399, of which the Centre contributes as much as Rs 300. The beneficiary joins the State Government and the local-self government institution concerned in coughing up the rest (Rs 33 each).

The Country Head, ICICI Lombard General Insurance Company Ltd, Mr K. Bharathan, will take part in the function.
