Delphi-TVS to make common rail diesel injection systems

DELPHI-TVS Diesel Systems, a major supplier of rotary diesel fuel injection systems for passenger cars, will invest Rs 500 crore to manufacture common rail fuel injection systems and set up a technical centre for carrying out product development activities in India.

"We are targeting to achieve a sales level of Rs 1,200 crore by 2010 from Rs 330 crore currently," said Mr T.K. Balaji, Managing Director of Delphi-TVS Diesel Systems.

The company, which recently celebrated the production of its millionth pump, plans to produce over a million pumps annually by 2010 for rotary, common rail and other fuel injection systems, he added.

In addition to Tata Motors, Delphi-TVS's customers include Mahindra & Mahindra, Hindustan Motors, Ford Motor Company, Maruti Udyog and Perkins. "We hope to add one new customer every year and expand our product range to offer medium duty common rail solutions to trucks," said Mr J.S. Chopra, President, Delphi-TVS Diesel Systems.

Delphi-TVS plans to invest Rs 50 crore for the creation of a technical centre at its existing facility in Chennai. This centre will complement the current engineering facilities and focus on developing new products and applications to meet future emissions legislation.

This centre will be one of Delphi's 10 diesel application centres worldwide.
