Hyderabad , Jan.17

YAMAHA Motor India Sales, a 100 per cent subsidiary of Yamaha Motor Company Ltd, Japan, has launched Crux, a 106-cc four-stroke bike. It plans to garner a larger share of the country's motorcycle market with a slew of launches.

The Crux, priced at Rs 30,990 ex-showroom, delivers on three crucial parameters of mileage, low maintenance and carrying capability that suit the demands of Indian customers, said Mr N. Srikanth, Regional Business Head, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh, Yamaha Motor Company.

Crux caters to the economy segment. The two-wheeler industry registered a growth of about 20 per cent in 2005 over the previous year. This was driven mainly by the growth in both urban and rural markets.

"Yamaha currently accounts for about 6 per cent market share in bikes in both the country and the State and expects to grow this to 12 per cent by the year-end. This will be fuelled by introduction of some more models," Mr Srikanth said.
