Strategy Samsung plans to introduce 19 air-conditioner models Our Bureau
Chennai , Jan. 20 SAMSUNG India Electronics proposes to introduce 19 new models of air-conditioners this year, company officials said at a press conference here. Mr Pradeep Tognatta, Director-Sales (Consumer Electronics), Samsung India, said that last year the company invested $5.2 million (Rs 23 crore) in setting up a `heat exchanger unit' at Noida and another $5 million for producing plastic moulds for air conditioners. The company today has a capacity to produce 4 lakh air conditioners. "We are looking at doubling our AC volumes to over 4 lakh units this year," Mr Tognatta said. The new AC range comes with a patented technology called `silver nano health system' which enables the machine to double as air purifier too. On offer are `sleek and slim' models, tower ACs and `cassette type and ductibles' for the commercial market.
