Pact for research, survey on hydrocarbons

THE National Geophysical Research Institute (NGRI) and Directorate General of Hydrocarbons (FGH) have signed a memorandum of understanding to carry out combined research and surveys of hydrocarbons.
The MoU would cover four projects worth Rs 23.45 crore.
These included two-dimensional seismic reflection survey in Kutch onland basin in Gujarat at a cost of Rs 16 crore and marine seismic and magneto telluric survey in the Gulf of Kutch region with an out lay of Rs 6.65 crore.
Magneto telluric studies along two transverses - Sihore to Akola and Indore to Jalgaon would also be taken up.
An analysis of aerial imagery/remote sensing data over Narmada Cambay/Deccan syneclise region in Central India would also be taken up.
While the first project would be headed by Dr B. Rajendra Prasad, the teams for the remaining three projects would be headed by Dr T. Harinarayana, an NGRI official said.
