NCDEX to launch sponge iron futures from January 30

NATIONAL Commodity & Derivatives Exchange Ltd (NCDEX) has announced that it would commence trading in sponge iron futures contract from January 30.

The initial contracts will be for March and April. The subsequent contracts will be introduced on the 10th of every month. Trading and delivery unit will be 20 tonnes and the base value will be quoted in rupee per tonne on ex-warehouse at Raipur basis.

The pre-expiry additional margin would be 3 per cent incremental per day for the last five trading days prior to expiry of a contract.
