Bullish global market buoys rubber further

THE opening day of the week witnessed firm quotes for spot rubber. Bullish international markets and domestic short supply cushioned the market to move up.

Covering groups continued to stay active expecting enhanced quotations from major manufacturers.

Traders seemed excited as Japanese futures hit the upper circuits in all contracts against expectations.

Sheet rubber RSS 4 improved to Rs 78.75 and Rs 79 respectively at Kottayam and Kochi against Rs 78 a kg on Saturday.

NMCE February contract quoted at Rs 80.50 (Rs 79.07), March contract at Rs 82.85 (Rs 80.92 ), April contract at Rs 84.81 (Rs 82.87 ) and May contract at Rs 85.75 (Rs 84.05 ) a kg for RSS 4.

February futures for RSS 3 shot up to 246 yen (Rs 92.47 ) from 240 yen a kg at TOCOM.

Spot prices a kg were: RSS-4: 78.75 (78); RSS-5: 77.75 (76.25); ungraded: 76.75 (75.50); ISNR 20: 77.50 (76.50); and latex 60 per cent: 56 (55.50).
