Security BEL to showcase radars at Defexpo 2006 Our Bureau
Bangalore , Jan. 30 BHARAT Electronics Ltd (BEL) has said that it will showcase an array of export-class radars including the short-range battlefield surveillance radar (BFSR-SR) to global customers during the four-day Defexpo 2006, which opens in Delhi on January 31. The BFSR, manufactured by BEL with design knowhow from LRDE, Bangalore is being supplied to the Indian Army from March 2005. It won for BEL the 2005 DSIR National Award for R&D efforts in industry is a portable ground-based radar for surveillance of the battlefield. It was developed indigenously by DRDO; the radar can also be used by the police and security forces for homeland security, the Defence PSU said in a release. BEL is showcasing its contract manufacturing capabilities apart from offering communication equipment, command and control systems, radars and sonars, night vision and opto-electronics products, tank electronics, and simulators and electronic warfare systems. BEL is also putting up its naval systems, the Simputer, electronic voting machines, DTH receiver, and microwave components on show.
