Farm sector growth

This is with reference to the editorial, "Orphans of the reforms process," (Business Line January 27). The article could not have been titled more appropriately.

The Prime Minister and the Finance Minister have often said that farm sector growth is essential for India's growth.

But the farm sector remains not only as an orphan, but one that is uncared for.

The farmer needs protection from low or no production. What we need is the will to invest and implement.

Innovative technology to suit the small farmer needs to be introduced.

A. Jacob Sahayam
