Sunflower seen at a garden in Udhagamandalam, Tamil Nadu. Indian oilseed yields are around half of the world average and almost one-third of that of the leading producers in the world. Production of sunflower seeds in the country stands at 10.36 lakh tonnes, as against the record oil seed production of 25.1 million tonnes.
