RPG Retail VP quits; to head Dimexon venture

Our Bureau

Chennai , Feb. 1

MR K. Radhakrishnan, Vice-President (Merchandising), RPG Retail, and part of the original team that put FoodWorld operations in place, is quitting the group after an over seven-year stint.

When asked about his move, Mr Radhakrishnan confirmed he had put in his papers and said he would be spearheading the retail business of diamond trading company Dimexon.

The diamonds and jewellery conglomerate, which also owns the well-known jewellery chain Kirtilals, is a sight-holder for Diamond Trading Company (DTC) and only one of three in the country. The London-based DTC is the sales and marketing arm of the De Beers Group. The DTC sells its rough diamonds exclusively through its sight-holders who are "suppliers of choice" and who in turn channel diamonds to the retail trade.

Dimexon at present has three stores retailing jewellery in the country under the Kirtilals brand and plans to expand its presence in India as well as abroad.

Mr Radhakrishnan, prior to his stint with RPG Retail, was with Amalgam Foods and earlier with Hindustan Lever.
