Rubber Rubber hardens on global recovery Our Correspondent
Kottayam , Feb. 2 A SHARP recovery in international indices strengthened spot rubber prices on Thursday. The market improved on short covering and fresh buying as covering groups and purchase agents turned active, reacting to the news on hectic buying in the Japanese futures. Major manufactures were also active in the main marketing centres buying sheet rubber RSS 4 up to Rs 79.50 a kg according to sources. NMCE February contract was quoted at Rs 83.70 (Rs 82.23), March at Rs 86.22 (Rs 84.30), April at Rs 87.60 (Rs 85.75) and May at Rs 88.65 (Rs 86.97 ) per kg for RSS 4. The March futures for the grade was traded at Rs 85 against Rs 84.51 a kg on MCX The March futures RSS 3 hit the upper circuit at 254.6 yen ( Rs 95.21) a kg against 248.6 yen at TOCOM. The grade flared up to Rs 90.29 a kg from Rs 89.04 at Bangkok spot. Physical prices a kg were: RSS-4: Rs 80 (Rs 79); RSS-5 : Rs 78.75 (Rs 78); ungraded: Rs 78 (Rs 77); ISNR 20: Rs 78.50 (Rs 77.50); and latex 60%: Rs 57 (Rs 56.50).
