Seminar on outsourcing at Kochi

KOCHI: Mr J.N. Amrolia, Vice-President, Employers Federation of Southern India, and Executive Director of Ashok Leyland, Chennai, inaugurated the half-day seminar on `Outsourcing - The Mantra for Survival' here on Saturday.

He stressed the need for outsourcing to stay in business in the face of fierce competition. Mr N. Sreekumar, President of the Cochin Chamber of Commerce and Industry, who is the chief guest, made a presentation outlining the steps to be taken while outsourcing. Mr N.R.Pai, President, Kerala Management Association launched the Web site.

In the technical session, Mr Amrolia explained in detail the various outsourcing practices applied in the manufacturing sector with reference to his company. Mr C. Sankaranarayanan, formerly Labour Advisor, UPASI, made a brief account of the activities of the plantation and also pointed out some of the difficulties in outsourcing plantation activities in view of the legal hurdles.

Mr Madhu Damodaran, Sr VP, Teamlease Services, Bangalore, explained the issues involved on human resource outsourcing. Mr Shaji Vargehse, President of the West Coast Employers Federation, welcomed the delegates.
