Rubber Shortage continues to push up rubber Our Correspondent
Kottayam , Feb. 6 SPOT rubber continued to explore new horizons. The main marketing centres seemed to be suffering from acute scarcity of the raw material following rumours and predictions projecting Rs 100 as the target per kg for sheet rubber. According to sources, the covering groups are expecting the tyre sector to enhance their quotes during the week. Sheet rubber RSS 4 improved to Rs 83 a kg at Kottayam and Kochi from Rs 82 and Rs 81, respectively on Saturday. The NMCE rubber turned weak as international futures underwent a sharp technical correction on Monday. The February contract closed at Rs 83.40 (Rs 84.91), March at Rs 86.64 (Rs 88.04), April at Rs 88.02 (Rs 89.45) and May at Rs 89.10 (Rs 90.43) per kg for RSS 4. The March delivery contract for the grade was traded at Rs 87 against Rs 87.44 a kg on MCX. The March futures for RSS 3 declined sharply to 257.1 yen (Rs 95.85) against 263.6 yen a kg at TOCOM. RSS 3 improved to Rs 95.48 from Rs 93.24 a kg at Bangkok spot. Physical prices a kg were: RSS-4: Rs 83 (Rs 82), RSS-5: Rs 81.75 (Rs 80.50), ungraded: Rs 80 (Rs 79.50), ISNR 20: Rs 81.25 (Rs 80), and latex 60%: Rs 58.50 (Rs 58).
