Software Marketing - New Products & Services MS unveils Malayalam language interface Our Bureau
Bangalore , Feb. 7 WINDOWS XP users can now download Malayalam language interface pack from the Microsoft Web site. Microsoft Corporation India Private Ltd has released the language pack for Windows XP Professional and Windows XP Home editions on desktop PCs. Other language packs available are in Marathi, Gujarati, Tamil, Hindi and Bengali. "We are confident that the availability of Malayalam Language Interface for Microsoft Windows XP will help extend the reach of IT to nearly 35 million Malayalam speaking population in India," said Mr Raveesh Gupta, Senior Product Manager-Localisation, Microsoft. The Malayalam Language Interface Pack (LIP) can be downloaded at no additional cost. The launch of the Malayalam LIP is part of Microsoft's `Project Bhasha'. Project Bhasha was launched in September 2003 in India and will bring local language interface packs in 14 Indian languages to the masses. Microsoft had released fully localised MS Office in Hindi and LIPs in nine languages including Punjabi, Kannada, Tamil, Marathi, Gujarati, Konkani, Telugu, Nepalese and Urdu.
