CHENNAI: Kothari Sugars & Chemicals Ltd has leased a cooperative mill in Karnataka to expand the sugar crushing capacity in its fold.

According to press release from the company, it has taken on lease the sugar mill of Pandavapura SSK Ltd in Mandya district for a 7-year period.

The mill has a capacity to crush 3,500 tonnes of sugarcane a day and could handle about 6-lakh tonnes cane during the season.

Apart from this lease, sources in the know say that the company is also setting up a 3,000 tonnes a day sugar mill at Thirumanur in Perambalur district, Tamil Nadu. This mill will also have a cogeneration plant.
