Beedi co celebrates platinum jubilee in Mangalore

Mangalore , Feb. 8

THE Mangalore-based Bharath Beedi Works Pvt Ltd celebrated its platinum jubilee here on Wednesday.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Ganapati Pai, Chairman and Managing Director, said the company provides employment - both direct and indirect - to more than 50,000 people.

The company, which has a turnover of Rs 150 crore, exports beedis.

Mr V.K. Chopra, Chairman and Managing Director of Corporation Bank, who was the chief guest, said that small and medium enterprise sector is the real barometer of the economy. This sector helps remove unemployment. He lauded the role of the company in creating employment opportunities.

The Chairman and Managing Director of Syndicate Bank, Mr N. Kantha Kumar, also spoke on the occasion.
