Announcements ONGC Bassein field starts production of oil — 9,000 barrels a day expected Our Bureau
Mumbai , Feb. 9 THE D-1 field of ONGC's Bassein and satellite asset located in the deep continental shelf area of Mumbai offshore goes on production with the first development well (P3) of D-1 field producing oil on Wednesday. A release from ONGC here said production of 9,000 barrels a day is expected, once the wells get completed. The marginal D-1 field is situated 200 km south-west of Mumbai and 90 km south-south-west of Mumbai High encompassing an area of 255 sq km. The development of D-1 field has been planned in two phases. At present, the first phase of development is under implementation wherein three producers and three injectors are planned for drilling and completion. Second phase also envisages a similar number of producers and injectors after evaluation of production performance in the first phase. To exploit oil and gas from D-1 structure, a 12-slot well-cum-water injection platform with water injection facility and control systems for electrical submersible pumps and chemical injection system has been installed, the release said. The produced well fluid is to be processed at early production system - Sagar Laxmi (bridge connected to D-1 platform), which has been modified and upgraded by installation of digital control system for process control and other infrastructure facilities required for the exploitation of the hydrocarbons. Being located in an isolated and marginal field, oil from D-1 structure, post processing, will be transported from Sagar Laxmi through single point mooring for offloading into a oil tanker for onward transportation to refinery.
