AP woos hardware, electronics cos

WITH the Central Government giving its nod to locate SemIndia and Fab City in Andhra Pradesh, the State Government is seeking to woo hardware and electronics companies in a bid to make this a major high-tech hardware-cum-manufacturing hub.

With three confirmed proposals to establish Fab facilities in the State, the total investment is projected to be in the range of Rs 20,000 crore, which includes Rs 13,500 crore from SemIndia, and two more confirmed projects of Nano Tech Silicon India Ltd, of Dr June Min, of Intellect Inc, South Korea, and Cypress Semiconductors Ltd.

The State Chief Minister, DrY.S.Rajasekhara Reddy, has received communication from venture capitalist Vinod Khosla, the President of Applied Materials, a supplier of semiconductor equipment, Mr Mike Splinter, and a host of industry bodies.
