Railways `Set up Konkan Rly regional office at Mangalore' Our Bureau
Mangalore , Feb 12 THE Kanara Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) has requested the Union Railway Ministry to set up a regional office of the Konkan Railway Corporation in Mangalore. In a letter to the Union Minister of State for Railways, Mr R. Velu, the President of KCCI, Mr A. Srinivasa Rao, said that Konkan Railway Corporation runs trains between Lokamanya Tilak Terminus of Central Railway and Mangalore of the Southern Railway. However, Konkan Railway lines are restricted between Roha in Maharashtra and Thokur in Mangalore. Stressing the need for transferring a section of Southern Railway - from Thokur to Mangalore station in Mangalore taluk - to the Konkan Railway Corporation, he said the Ministry should ask the Konkan Railway to set up a regional office in Mangalore.
