Employment Info-Tech - Human Resources Temp jobs up 20 pc; salaries rise 15 pc Our Bureau
Bangalore , Feb. 13 THERE'S good news for temp (temporary) workers across the country. The number of temp jobs has jumped by 20 per cent in verticals like BFSI, manufacturing and consumer durables. Salaries have improved by 15 per cent compared to last year, though Bangalore and Delhi continue to top in temp salaries across industries and job profiles. According to the annual temp salary report compiled by TeamLease Services, the country's largest staffing company, HR and administration temps in IT and ITeS sectors take home the highest pay packets (about Rs 16,000 per month for 3-5 years experience) followed closely by manufacturing and BFSI (about Rs 12,000 for the same level). In cities like Chennai, Hyderabad and Pune, HR and admin temps at the same level would earn anywhere between Rs 10,000 and Rs 12,000 per month. The Temp Salary Primer 2006 has studied salaries across nine locations and 23 profiles for earnings between December 2004 and December 2005. Speaking to Business Line, Mr Ashok Reddy, Managing Director, TeamLease Services, said the year saw an increased acceptance of temp workers by the ITeS sector. "We have stuck to our record of adding around 1,800 associates every month and are introducing the temp concept to new clients, industries and locations," he said. Even in the ITeS sector, which has been the slowest to accept temp workers, TeamLease has 800 agents working for BPOs. "This is apart from the usual support services staff that we have provided," he said. Mr Reddy was also upbeat about temping for blue-collar workers. TeamLease, which recently launched temp services in the category, already has around 1,000 blue-collar associates working in manufacturing companies.
