Dairy & Dairy Products States - Maharashtra Maharashtra hikes milk prices Our Bureau
Mumbai , Feb. 21 THE Maharashtra Government on Tuesday took a decision to hike the price of milk produced by cooperative milk societies in the State. Announcing the decision to the media after the weekly Cabinet meeting on Tuesday, Mr Vilasrao Deshmukh, Chief Minister, said that with effect from March 1, the price of cow milk would be increased by Rs 1.25 per litre and buffalo milk by Rs 1.40 per litre. The commission to the milk cooperatives has been increased by 55 paise per litre, he said. Bill for SEZ: Mr Deshmukh also announced that the Cabinet had given approval to the initial draft to the Maharashtra State Special Economic Zone & Designated Areas Act, 2006. Once enacted, the law would help the State in maintaining the leadership position in attracting investments, he said. The draft act has created a new position called `Development Zone Commissioner' who will be the sole authority for issuing all the licences and implementing more 15 Central acts under which the SEZ functions, Mr Deshmukh said.
