The Government is finalising a proposal to return within 15 days excise duty and service tax to those who should not have paid, said the Central Board of Excise and Customs Chairman, Mr M. Jayaraman on Saturday. Speaking at a meeting on `Budget 2006: Issues and Implications' organised by the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI), Mr Jayaraman said the questions on taxation raised by industrialists would be addressed and asked the industrialists to send written representations to his office. In her welcome remarks, Ms Sushma Berlia, President, PHDCCI, said that there was a need to advance the roadmap of Goods and Services Tax from 2010.
