"These girls belong to Nanhi Kali project, jointly managed by K C Mahindra Education Trust and Naandi Foundation," Mr Satish Sohoni, Chief Operating Officer (Food Additives Business) of Tata Chemicals Ltd, said.

Announcing the programme at a press conference here on Thursday, he said the company would set apart 10 paise on each 1 kg salt packet it sold for the programme. The company earmarked two months every year to take up this programme in different parts of the country. About 500 Nanhi Kalis in Hyderabad, 400 in Sheopur (Madhya Pradesh), 100 in Kanker (Chattisgarh), and 500 in Kandivali (Mumbai) would get the proceeds from the Tata Salt campaign.
