THE ROAD AHEAD: A worker plucking tea leaves in an organic tea plantation near Munnar, in Kerala's Idukki district. Organic farming in all crops has tremendous scope for growth, as there is sufficient manpower and infrastructure to promote it. Currently, total crop of organic production in country is estimated at 1,19,656 tonnes with 26,57,000 seedlings and cuttings and 2,64,000 litres of effective micro-organisms. The total area under certified organic cultivation is around 25,08,826 hectares.
