Sitapur SEZ Phase II almost complete

New Delhi, March 18

Development work at phase-II of the Sitapur special economic zone (SEZ) in Rajasthan has almost been completed with vital infrastructure in place including services like power and water supply, road laying and street lighting.

The 89.93-acre SEZ Phase II, which was announced by the Government in December 2003 for promotion of the gems and jewellery sector, has seven manufacturing units under construction with 142 plots of the total of 189 plots already allotted to companies. The zone is being developed by Rajasthan State Industrial and Investment Corporation Ltd (RIICO) with an investment of Rs 25.90 crore for the phase. The 20-acre Phase-I of the SEZ has already reported exports of Rs 16 crore last month.
