Slumping fortunes

FARMING SECTOR in the State has registered low income and the rate of growth of private sector investment in agriculture was lower than the national average, though investment was high in monetary terms. The State agricultural income was Rs 5,586 crore in 2004-05 and the contribution to the State exchequer was only 12.53 per cent.
