Truckers' union plans indefinite stir from June 1

Kolkata , March 21

The All India Confederation of Goods Vehicle Owners' Associations (ACOGOA) has given call for nationwide indefinite strike by truckers from June 1.

The strike is in protest against, among other things, the unhelpful attitude of insurance companies in regard to Third Party Motor Insurance, arbitrary levying of taxes by various State Governments on goods passing through jurisdiction, imposition of toll tax on highways and anomalies in the deduction of tax at source from hire charges, according to a statement issued by Mr Chittaranjan Dass, Vice-President, ACOGOA.
