Hyderabad, March 24

Coca-Cola has sponsored a check dam at Yerrampally village in Bhongir Mandal of Nalgonda District, as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility initiative coinciding with the World Water Day (March 22).

In collaboration with a non-governmental organisation (NGO), Coca-Cola will build the check dam which would have a capacity to hold 1,200 kilo litres of water. The construction would take 45 days and would help the about 2500 villagers in the coming monsoon season to replenish groundwater. Yerrampally village is located on the highway connecting Hyderabad and Warangal. It has low ground water levels and suffers acute water shortage, according to a press release.
