Shipping CSL delivers first bulk carrier to Bahamas co Our Bureau

Kochi , April 11 Cochin Shipyard Ltd has delivered on schedule the first of the six 30,000 dwt bulk carriers for the Clipper Group, Bahamas, at a function held at the yard. The protocol documents were exchanged between Mr S. Sreekumar, Director (Operations), CSL, and Mr Soren Halsted, Managing Director, Clipper Group, in the presence of Cmde M. Jitendran, Chairman and Managing Director, CSL.
Platform supply ship
The keel of the second platform supply vessel for Seatankers Management Group, Norway, was also laid during the function. The order for construction of platform supply ships was signed in February 2005. Initially the orders were for four ships but were later increased to eight. CSL had signed the contract for building 6 no's 30,000 dwt bulk carriers in January 2004. The order is for Clipper, who owns, operates and manages more than 400 ships. The first bulk carrier has been delivered on time as per the contractual schedule and to the full satisfaction of the owners. With the delivery of this ship, the company has attained one more milestone in the international ship building market, a statement issued here said. The short-term plans of the company include setting up of ancillary units within the yard premises, investment in the small ship division and increase in pace of construction of Air Defence Ship.
