Oilmeal exports rise 81% in April

Mumbai , May 7

The country's export of oilmeals has reported an increase of 81 per cent to 3,99,225 tonnes during April compared with 2,20,900 tonnes in April 2005 due to sharp increase in soyabean meal export.

Export of soyabean meal increased from 99,250 tonnes to 3,16,925 tonnes in April this year, mainly to Vietnam (95,875 tonnes), South Korea (70,250 tonnes), China (60,400 tonnes) and Indonesia (35,400 tonnes).

During the review period, rapeseed meal export was reported at 53,425 tonnes, mainly to China (28,475 tonnes), Taiwan (12,375 tonnes) and South Korea (10,400 tonnes).

Groundnut meal export was reported at 12,400 tonnes, mainly to China.

Taiwan is the main buyer for castormeal (5,450 tonnes) followed by South Korea (5,375 tonnes).

Kandla handled 2,41,650 tonnes (60 per cent) of exports, Bedi 58,225 tonnes (15 per cent), Mumbai 48,150 tonnes (12 per cent), Vizag 40,350 tonnes (10 per cent) and Kakinada 10,850 tonnes (3 per cent).
