Outlook Kenstar hopes to double revenues to Rs 700 cr Our Bureau
Hyderabad , May 8 Kenstar Appliances, with a slew of launches in the kitchen appliances segment and more recently televisions sets, home theatres, DVD players and possibly audio systems, is aiming at doubling its turnover by next year to Rs 700 crore. The Managing Director of Kenstar, Mr Rahul Sethi, said: "The company's accounting year is July-June and is set to close this year with a turnover of Rs 350 crore. Given the launch of a range of products in the TV and entertainment segment, we expect this to contribute about Rs 350 crore, together doubling the overall company turnover."
TV launch
Addressing a press conference to launch their range of TVs, including high-end Plasma, and LCD TVs, Mr Sethi said these televisions would be launched only in the South as this region accounts for about 25 per cent of the overall market. We have earmarked a marketing spend of about Rs 12 crore for TVs alone over six months. Referring to the television market, which has established players such as Samsung, LG, Philips, Onida and Videocon, Mr Sethi said that there is a clear shift within the consumers buying pattern. They are not only upgrading but also moving towards Plasma and LCD TVs. This shift presents us with an opportunity to tap into the 12 million number market. "Following the launch in Hyderabad and tier II cities in Tamil Nadu and Karnataka, we will roll them out in Bangalore and Chennai," he said. The company assembles and markets the products.
