Chennai , May 15

Sachin Tendulkar will be the brand ambassador for G.M. Pens International, marketers of Reynolds pens.

Announcing the three-year contract with Sachin Tendulkar here on Monday, Mr K. Mohamed Meeran, Managing Director, G.M. Pens, said that the company expects growth to go up by 10 per cent to around 30 per cent for the forthcoming fiscal because of this contract. The company's turnover is Rs 175 crore, he said.

The company would be undertaking a series of print and television commercials with the cricketer in the coming months, with the television commercial scheduled to release in July.

Mr Meeran said that the signing of the cricketer would help market the product in some of the cricket playing SAARC countries such as Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. At present, about 7-8 per cent of the company's turnover is accounted for by sales in the SAARC countries.

He said that about 8-10 per cent of the company's turnover goes into marketing and promotion.

When asked if this amount would increase because of the endorsement, he said that with the expected increase in revenue as a result of the contract, the proportions would even out.
