Information Technology States - Karnataka Radiant's online booking solution for KSRTC L.N. Revathy
Coimbatore , May 16 Radiant Infosystems has implemented `Awatar' (Any Where Any Time Advanced Reservation) the online passenger reservation system for the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC). The access to this solution is at present limited to KSRTC agents and travel agents. The corporation, however, is planning to extend it to the general public very soon. Bangalore-based Radiant sources claim `Awatar' as the first-of-its-kind road transport online passenger-booking project in the country. A source told Business Line that the software would enable customers to book tickets online to a destination of their choice across the State. `Passengers can also check for arrival and departure information, cancellations and wait-listed status via mobile phones, palmtops or email.'
Positive response
Stating that there was a positive response to this facility, the Director of Radiant Infosystems, Mr C. Narayanacharyulu, said the solution was both a challenge and a pleasurable experience for his team. Having implemented the solution successfully, Radiant is now confident of developing solutions for projects on a larger scale.
To open kiosks
`The Government is planning to open 1,000 kiosks in rural Karnataka to facilitate the service of Awatar in the State. The rural populace and those in remote locations would be the key beneficiaries of such a project,' he said. It is reliably learnt that the daily passenger traffic flow ranges between15,000-25,000 persons.
