Hyderabad , May 17

TVS Interconnected Systems Ltd (TVSICS), part of the $3-billion diversified TVS Group, has bagged a mandate to partner with Siemens Information Systems consortium to develop a structured telecom backbone network for Hyderabad International airport.

While the nature of job for the new airport is being finalised, the deal could typically be valued at about 10 per cent of the airport cost. The company refrained from giving the deal size, but it could potentially be worth $20-30 million initially.

Strengthening its network solutions offering, the company has launched a slew of products under TVSnet and plans to invest about Rs 200 crore in build-operate-and-lease (BOL) based telecom outsourced managed services.

Speaking to newspersons today, Mr S. Ashok, General Manager (Networking), TVSICS, and Mr Biswajit Patnaik, General Manager (Sales and Marketing), hinted at partnering with GMR's Delhi airport project with its managed services as also other major projects in the country.

The company has recorded revenues of Rs 120 crore and expects to more than double its revenues to Rs 250 crore, with a significant part coming from the rapidly expanding managed services business. The company has embarked on a phased roll-out of its networking products and solutions offered through TVSnet.

It plans to garner a significant share (about 25 per cent of the market) for these products from small and medium-sized enterprises, according to Mr Ashok.

"The demand for managed services has just begun to boom. Increasingly, companies are preferring to have their telecom infrastructure outsourced," said Mr Patnaik.

"This could be simple telecom infrastructure or even complex management of data centres. It is here that we see a significant growth for an integrated player like us."

"The Indian telecom market is growing at a rapid pace and most of the telecom carriers with whom we work are expanding their operations beyond main cities," said Mr Ashok.
