Thiruvananthapuram , May 18

The veteran Marxist leader, Mr V. S. Achuthanandan, took oath as the 20th Chief Minister of Kerala at the head of a 19-member Left Democratic Front (LDF) ministry here on Thursday.

The Governor, Mr R. L. Bhatia administered the oath of office and secrecy to the new Chief Minister and his colleagues at an elaborate function held at the Central Stadium here where a huge cheered them.

This also marked the first instance when the swearing-in was taken out of Raj Bhavan premises.
