Events States - Karnataka More people should focus on innovation: Pitroda Our Bureau
Bangalore , May 22 Innovation requires an ability to see things differently and the country needs more people focussed on innovation and entrepreneurship, according to Mr Sam Pitroda, Chairman, National Knowledge Commission. He was speaking over videoconferencing at a symposium on `Innovation and Entrepreneurship' organised by the Illinois Institute of Technology in Bangalore today. Mr Pitroda, who holds 50 worldwide patents and has founded several companies, shared his observations about how the innovation process has changed in recent years. "Almost every company is focused on innovations and creating entrepreneurial drive within the organisation to get things done. Innovation requires a different mindset, a different work culture," he said. Mr Rajeev Chandrasekhar, CEO, Jupiter Capital and Member of Parliament, described how the Indian entrepreneurship and business landscape has dramatically transformed in the last decade. Noting that first generation entrepreneurs have emerged and have created world-class companies and organisations, such as BPL Mobile, Dr Reddy's Laboratories, Jet Airways, Wipro, he said that now, barriers are lower.
