Salora, Japan's TEAC sign pact

New Delhi, May 26

Salora International Ltd has entered into an agreement to manufacture and market televisions, DVD player and audio systems in India for Japan's TEAC Corp. "In the first phase, we will manufacture one type of television set and DVD players in India, for which we will get the brand license and technology from the TEAC,'' Mr Gopal Jiwarajka, Managing Director of Salora, told reporters on the sidelines of a press conference. Salora will import the audio products to be sold in India. Mr Jiwarajka added that Salora has invested Rs 1 crore to expand capacity of its existing television plant to 350,000 units to produce TEAC televisions. ``We are also in talks with TEAC for bringing their computer peripherals to India,'' he said. TEAC also produces optical storage devices like compact discs and DVDs.
