Hyderabad , May 26

A unique advertising alliance, which gives the reach and depth of the combined strengths of four leading newspapers in Hyderabad has been forged. Called the `ChaRminar', the combination includes The Hindu, Eenadu (Telugu), Siasat (Urdu) and Hindi Milap (Hindi).

The top brass of these newspaper organisations said the alliance will offer the most cost-effective package to the advertiser and media planner in Hyderabad. It will be formally launched on June 1.

The alliance

The new ChaRminar alliance has been brought together by The Hindu-Eenadu combine, which has shared a successful advertising relationship from June 2001.

The Managing Director of The Hindu Group, Mr N. Murali, described the alliance as, "the most cost-effective and an unbeatable one".

Announcing the alliance at a press conference, Mr Murali said the combination would offer a unique depth and add-on value to the advertiser. With the IT, retail and consumer sectors booming, the city has many exciting opportunities coming up, he added. Mr I. Venkat, Director, Eenadu, said the alliance will bring the strengths of the four leading newspapers and will also address the needs of other parts of the country.

"We will also explore possibilities to taking the combination to the Net advertising in future."

Tap potential

The Director, Siasat Daily, Mr Zaheer-ud-din Ali Khan, said Andhra Pradesh has the second highest number of people in the Gulf and it would be an opportunity to tap this potential.

Mr Prakash Jain of The Hindi Milap also felt that since there is no duplication in readership among the four newspapers, the advertiser should get good value for his money.

Given the fact that each of the four leading publications reaches a varied audience, with a combined circulation of over 4.75 lakh in Hyderabad alone, the new ChaRminar would simply be the most powerful media plan, to cost effectively reach a large and diverse audience.
