Oilmeal exports up 29 per cent

The country's oilmeal exports increased by 29 per cent to 6,55,550 tonnes during April and May compared with 5,06,750 tonnes during the same period a year ago. This is on account of higher export of soyabean meal.

During the review period, soyabean meal exports increased from 2,55,350 tonnes to 4,57,000 tonnes, according to the data compiled by the Solvent Extractors' Association of India.

Export of oilmeal during May was 2,56,325 tonnes against 2,85,850 tonnes last year.

Soyabean meal export during April-May stood at 4,57,000 tonnes - mainly exported to Vietnam (1,25,425 tonnes), China (77,475 tonnes), South Korea (72,350 tonnes), Indonesia (70,925 tonnes) and Japan (65,725 tonnes).

Rapeseed meal export was reported at 1,30,825 tonnes mainly exported to South Korea (53,625 tonnes), followed by Taiwan (31,250 tonnes) and China (28,625 tonnes). Groundnutmeal export was reported at 30,925 tonnes mainly exported to China. Taiwan is the main buyer for castor meal (17,725 tonnes) followed by South Korea (8,675 tonnes).

Exports from Kandla stood at 4,19,450 tonnes (64 per cent), followed by Mumbai, which handled 94,300 tonnes (15 per cent), Bedi handled 85,850 tonnes (13 per cent), Vizag handled 40,350 tonnes (6 per cent) and Kakinada handled 15,600 tonnes (2 per cent).
