NECC plea to poultry sector

Our bureau

Hyderabad, June 7

The National Egg Co-ordination Committee (NECC) has urged poultry farmers to buy only the minimum requirement of maize to meet immediate needs and not resort to panic buying. In a press release here, it said the Centre had agreed to release 5.3 lakh tonnes of maize to farmers at a low rate, in response to NECC's request recently. Maize price increased steeply in the open market and touched Rs 630 a quintal. The NECC was following up the issue with the Government at the highest level, to get the grain released at the earliest, the press release said. The NECC has expressed confidence that the maize would be available in the market soon and would bring down prices.
