Fan makers get orders from Colombo, Dubai

Our Bureau

Hyderabad , June 13

Fan makers from Hyderabad made a good impact and received export orders from both Dubai and Colombo, following participation in `buyer-seller' meets and business visits recently.

While Colombo fetched orders worth Rs 2.5 crore, Dubai offered an initial order for Rs 50 lakh in the last six months.

Interestingly, a Sri Lankan Group has proposed a joint venture for the manufacture of fans there.

Its now clear that the Dubai customers are aware that India can offer a cost-effective and competitive range of fans to China. The visits have helped bolster the awareness and image of the Hyderabad fan manufacturers as well, according to Mr Arvind Patwari of the Small Industries Services Institute (SISI), here.

The SISI and the National Institute of Small Industries Extension and Training (NISIET), both under the Union Ministry of Small Scale Industries, have been playing an important role in developing the well known Hyderabad fan units into a cluster and get them a range of incentive to upgrade technology and improve quality.

These developments also give the Hyderabad fan manufacturers, who have been mainly exporting through merchants based in Mumbai and Chennai, direct access to international markets.

Further, direct access to the customers would get the required feedback to the manufacturers to improve the product quality and meet their demands. About 18 fan units from Hyderabad fan manufacturers Association participated in the Dubai and Colombo meet.
