Roadways Industry & Economy - Petroleum Government - Politics States - Karnataka Corridor project: BJP moots high-level panel Our Bureau
Mangalore, June 16 The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), a coalition partner in the Karnataka Government, has suggested that a high-level committee - involving experts, farmers and ministers be formed to find a solution to the present imbroglio on Bangalore-Mysore Infrastructure Corridor (BMIC) project. Addressing presspersons here on Friday, Mr D.V. Sadananda Gowda, President of the Karnataka BJP, said this point would be taken up for discussion in the next meeting of the coordination committee, involving members from the coalition partners. The BJP and the Janata Dal (Secular) are the coalition partners in Karnataka.
4-point solution
Mr Gowda said his party believes in four-point solution for the present problem. First, there should not be any problem for development activities in the State. "We came to power on the agenda of State's development," he said. Second, the party is for the welfare of farmers. He claimed that the Karnataka Government was the first one to introduce loans at four per cent to farmers. In such a situation, whatever excess land has been acquired for the project should be handed over to the farmers concerned. Third, the Government should not come out with legislation in a hurry on the problem. In some of the earlier instances, the apex courts had admonished the State Government for its hurried legislations, he said. Fourth, there should not be any humiliation to investors in the State.
