LIC's premium income surges in Coimbatore

Our Bureau

Coimbatore , June 16

The growing popularity of unit-linked policies has powered the Coimbatore LIC division to register a 211-per cent growth in the collection of first premium during the current fiscal, according to Mr R. Palaniswamy, Senior Divisional Manager, LIC, Coimbatore.

Policy goals

He said the division has also planned a target of 3.88 lakh policies during the current financial year.

In a release, he said the Coimbatore LIC division had collected a first premium of Rs 60 crore so far in the 2006-07 financial year, which was a growth of 211 per cent.

He said this growth was fuelled by the unit-linked policies.

Premium targets

The division has set a target of Rs 315 crore as first premium during the current year compared with Rs 231 crore last year.

Mr Palaniswamy said LIC's `Zindagee Express', an exhibition on rails, would be held on June 19 and 20.

During the exhibition, customers could register their policy numbers in the customers' portal and they can get value-added services on-line.

Ms Vanitha Mohan, Managing Trustee of `Siruthuli', would inaugurate the exhibition on June 19 at the Coimbatore North Railway station.

The exhibition on rails would conclude at Delhi on July 17 after touching 39 stations across the country, the release said.
