Rupee tad weaker against dollar

Our Bureau

Mumbai, June 21

The rupee was slightly weaker against the dollar on the back of month-end demand. The domestic currency opened at 45.90/92 and closed at 45.9550/9650, a tad lower than Tuesday's 45.95. Dealers said that the rupee opened stronger tracking the gains of the other major currencies against the greenback. However, the home currency gave up its early gains on month-end corporate demand for dollars. "The dollar inflows into the market are not robust while the demand is still there," said the chief forex dealer at a private bank. In the forward premia market, the 6-month premium closed at 1.14 per cent (1.12) and the 12-month at 1.22 per cent (1.21).
