Mangalore , June 21

`Exponut 2006' — an international trade fair of nuts, dried fruits, products and technologies — will be held at Istanbul in Turkey from June 22 to 24.

A press release by the Cashew Export Promotion Council of India (CEPCI) said here on Tuesday that a five-member Indiandelegation under the leadership of its Chairman, Mr Walter D'Souza, would participate in the event.

The earlier versions of Istanbul Exponut trade fairs have attracted over 3,000 importers from 45 countries. Over 5,000 people from 60 countries are expected to participate during this year. This is the largest international event in West Asia.

The release said export of cashew to Turkey has witnessed a rapid growth in the past two years, and the role of this delegation assumes significance against this backdrop. Added to this, the Union Ministry of Commerce has identified Turkey among the 57 countries recently notified under the `focus market' category.

Exclusive conclave

During the visit, the delegation will hold an exclusive conclave of the existing and the prospective importers of cashew. Mr D'Souza will make a presentation on Indian cashew. Turkish importers will be invited to participate in the global buyer-seller meet of CEPCI, to be held at Thiruvananthapuram in September.
