Spot rubber strengthens

Domestic rubber prices strengthened on Friday. Covering groups turned slightly active, inspired by intensified rains and tight supply concerns. Practically, there were no sellers in the market, while the prices firmed up on scattered transactions.

Sheet rubber improved to Rs 106 from Rs 105 and Rs 105.50 a kg respectively at Kottayam and Kochi. Major manufacturers continued to abstain and there were no enquires from any major consuming sectors, sources said.

Futures gain

The rubber futures moved up further on NMCE. The near month July contract was traded at Rs 109.50 (Rs 107.26), August at Rs 110.90 (Rs 108.48), September at Rs 107.50 (Rs 105.07) and October contract at Rs 104.00 (Rs 102.48) per kg for RSS 4. Spot prices (Rs a kg) were: RSS-4: Rs 106 (Rs 105); RSS-5: Rs 103.50 (Rs 102); ungraded: Rs 98 (Rs 97); ISNR 20: Rs 101 (Rs 100) and latex 60 per cent: Rs 78.95 (Rs 78.95).
